1. Der Lesesaal und die Bibliothek der Museumsgesellschaft 
Das mehrstöckige Haus der Museumsgesellschaft am Limmatquai 62 beherbergt einen Lesesaal, eine Bibliothek und das Literaturhaus Zürich. Die Räume vermitteln eine urchige Atmosphäre und die grossen Fenster gewähren einen herrlichen Blick auf die Limmat. In den beiden Lesesälen im ersten Stock sind schon Gottfried Keller, Lenin, Tucholsky und Joyce gesessen. Die Säle sind täglich bis halb zehn abends geöffnet, rund 300 Zeitschriften und 100 Zeitungen aus dem In- und Ausland liegen zudem zur Lektüre auf. Im dritten Stock befindet sich die Bibliothek, in welcher rund 140'000 Bücher zur Ausleihe zur Verfügung stehen.

2. Die Zentralbibliothek Zürich 
Die Zentralbibliothek ist gleichzeitig Stadt-, Kantons-, und Universitätsbibliothek. Sie zählt einen Bestand von über sechs Millionen Medien und ist damit eine der grössten Schweizer Bibliotheken. Sie verfügt über Arbeitsplätze und Lesenischen, welche jedoch während der Prüfungszeit meist von Studenten*innen besetzt sind. Dafür findet man hier mit grösster Wahrscheinlichkeit immer ein Exemplar des Buches, das man gerade lesen möchte und das anderswo bereits ausgeliehen ist.

3. Der Buchsalon im Kosmos 
Der Buchsalon im Kosmos ist kein gewöhnlicher Buchladen. Er lädt nämlich nicht nur zum Einkaufen, sondern auch zum Verweilen ein. Man kann dort an kleinen Tischen sitzen und in gemütliche Sitzgruppen versinken, am Laptop arbeiten und in den schönen Regalen stöbern. Zudem wird mitten im Salon Kaffee und Tee, kleine Snacks und Kuchen ausgegeben. Aber euch ein Bier oder ein Glas Wein kann man sich dort gönnen.

5. Die Bibliothek beim Völkerkundemuseum  
Die Bibliothek des Völkerkundemuseums ist eine öffentlich zugängliche wissenschaftliche Spezialbibliothek. Entsprechend klein sind die Räumlichkeiten. Dafür befindet sich die Bibliothek inmitten des wohl malerischsten Gartens in Zürich. Wenn man einmal den Kopf durchlüften muss, lädt dieser zu wohltuenden Spaziergängen ein.

6. Die Pestalozzi-Bibliothek in Oerlikon  
Die modernste aller PBZ-Bibliotheken liegt direkt neben dem Bahnhof Oerlikon. Die grossen Fenster lassen viel Sonnenlicht rein. Nebst ausreichend natürlicher Beleuchtung gibt es hier auch viel Platz zum Lesen und Arbeiten.
