Jenseits der klassischen Medien leisten Influencer:innen politische Informationsarbeit. Wir haben mit vier Zürcher:innen gesprochen und nachgefragt: Was ist ihr Ziel?

Willkommen in der Welt der Sozialen Medien, in der Aufmerksamkeit als höchstes Gut gilt – und Aufmerksamkeitsspannen doch immer kürzer werden. Lange galten Soziale Medien als ein utopischer Ort für zwischenmenschliche Begegnungen, unabhängig von Raum und Zeit. Doch wo sich Menschen begegnen, reiben sie sich. Und wo sich Menschen und ihre Weltsichten reiben, entsteht Politik. Vier ZürcherInnen wollen Einfluss nehmen. Ein Schlaglicht auf politische Meinungsbildung jenseits der klassischen Medien.
Joel Gretsch (23) erreicht auf der Plattform Tiktok bis zu 82 000 Menschen, vor allem jüngere. Der 23-jährige Masterstudent kennt die wechselnden Trends der Plattform: «Wenn man die richtigen Inhalte zur richtigen Zeit teilt, erreicht man eine riesige Reichweite, was gerade bei der ‹Ehe für alle› der Fall war.» Ein Thema, das junge Menschen bewegt hat. Angefangen hat der Politiker der jungen Grünliberalen während der ersten Corona-Welle.
Gleichzeitig arbeitete er für die Marketing- und Kommunikationsstelle der jungen Grünliberalen – heute sitzt er in deren Geschäftsleitung: «Mein Erfolg auf Tiktok hat wohl gezeigt, dass ich mich gut im Umgang mit Sozialen Medien verstehe. Ich mache das aber freiwillig, weil es mir Spass macht.» Spass allein ist jedoch nicht sein einziger Antrieb für die mehrheitlich unbezahlte Arbeit. Er möchte informieren, überzeugen. «Für viele in unserer Generation sind klassische Zeitungsartikel irrelevant geworden in der Informationsbeschaffung und die Diskussion hat sich ins Netz verschoben.»

Wirksames Infotainment
Auch Flavien Gousset (24) ortet ein Informationsvakuum, das er mit seinen Erklärvideos zu nationalen Abstimmungen auf Instagram gerne füllen möchte. «Junge Menschen verbringen sehr viel Zeit auf Sozialen Medien. Deswegen müssen politische Inhalte auch dorthin. Demokratie funktioniert nicht ohne Menschen, ohne Dialog wird sie von Eliten bestimmt.»
Instagram ermöglicht es ihm, direkt mit den Menschen in Kontakt zu treten. Bis zu 85000 Menschen schauen dem Campaigner der SP mit seinen kultigen langen Locken zu, wenn er vor den Abstimmungen seine Argumente darlegt – oft mit einer Prise Humor, immer an seinem Küchentisch. «Menschen sind nicht auf Instagram für Politik, sondern zur Unterhaltung. Ich versuche die beiden Dinge zu verbinden. Gut machen das gewisse amerikanische Late-Night-Shows, die ein komplexes Thema so herunterbrechen, dass es unterhaltsam und informativ ist.»

Alles selbstlos? Seine ersten Videos hat Gousset im Rahmen seiner Nationalratskandidatur 2019 erstellt. Für einen Sitz hat es nicht gereicht, dafür für viel Reichweite online. Flavien ist sich bewusst, dass ihm seine Bekanntheit ein Karrieresprungbrett sein kann, auch wenn das nicht sein eigentliches Ziel sei: «Ich möchte Menschen dazu bewegen sich langfristig politisch zu engagieren.»
Ein Döner pro Video
Junge Menschen mobilisieren: Dieses Ziel verfolgen auch Nil (28) und Davide (32). Sie betreiben das Profil @nilwiedefluss auf Instagram und Tiktok. Allerdings orten sie gesellschaftliche Unterschiede, wenn es um das politische Interesse bei jungen Menschen geht: «Unser Account richtet sich bewusst an Menschen mit Migrationshintergrund. Sie kommen oft nicht in Berührung mit Politik. Ihre Welt ist kulturell stark von der Familie geprägt und es fehlt bei vielen auch das Vertrauen in das politische System, da sie Politik in ihren Herkunftsländern oft mit Korruption in Verbindung bringen.»

Kennengelernt haben sich die beiden im Studium an der ZHdK. Später entwickelten sie ihre Idee in frühen Morgenstunden einer lauen Sommernacht. Nil, die heute als Social-Media-Managerin arbeitet, hat eine klare Meinung zum Onlineauftritt der politischen Linken: «Linke Politik ist auf den Sozialen Medien schlecht umgesetzt. Die Wortwahl ist schwer begreiflich und die Instagram-Seiten zu einfältig, da haben es SVP-Plakate viel einfacher, Aufmerksamkeit zu generieren.» Auch Davide findet die Sprache von linken PolitikerInnen zu akademisch und voller Sprachbarrieren. Sie kämen deswegen bei gewissen sozioökonomischen Schichten gar nicht erst an:
Wir wollen linke Themen und Meinungen verständlich herunterbrechen und die verlorenen Second@s zurückholen.
Junge Menschen könnten gar nicht mehr mit klassischen Medien erreicht werden, selbst Plakate verfehlen ihre Wirkung. «Wenn wir politische Inhalte einfach in einer normalen Sprache in ihre Timeline spülen, kann es sein, dass sie sich schliesslich doch dafür interessieren.» Während Nil vor der Kamera in Jugendsprache das Thema vorstellt, arbeitet Davide hinter der Kamera.
Für ihren Aktivismus werden sie nicht bezahlt: «Wenn wir den Account ernsthaft betreiben würden, wäre natürlich auch Geld nötig, da es dann ein Vollzeitjob wäre. Es wäre aber toll, wenn wir pro Video einen Döner spendiert bekämen.» Überhaupt: Alle befragten Polit-InfluencerInnen leisten Gratisarbeit. Einzig Joel Gretsch hat sich für ein Video für die ‹Ehe für alle› bezahlen lassen.
Débora Kessler (24) möchte keine Abstimmungen gewinnen mit ihren Videos. Sie hat eine andere Mission: «Sehr viele Menschen sind auf Tiktok unterwegs, die sexistische Inhalte verbreiten und da will ich dagegenhalten.» Die Philosophiestudentin und Yogalehrerin präsentiert sich natürlich, feministisch, dezidiert links und provokant auf der Kurzvideoplattform Tiktok.
Ihre Bekanntheit erhöhte sich im Zuge der Diskussion rund um das M-Wort: «Ich habe mich in einem Video lustig über Bürgerliche gemacht, die sich damals aufgeregt haben, dass sie von nun an Schokokuss sagen müssen.»
Mit ihrem Profil @debiciouss verfolgt sie verschiedene Ziele: Einerseits will sie junge Frauen ermutigen, ihre Meinung zu äussern, anderseits will sie gesellschaftskritisches Denken fördern: «Viele Männer blasen sich gross auf und nehmen viel Raum ein. Ich will dagegenhalten und zeigen, dass hinter diesen Argumenten kaum Inhalte stecken und sich junge Frauen dadurch nicht einschüchtern lassen sollen.»

Dennoch ist es wichtig, dass auch linke Meinungen auf diesen Plattformen vertreten sind. Es ist ein schmaler Grat zwischen der Verteufelung von Sozialen Medien und ihren Chancen, aber eines ist klar: Sie sind aus unserer Realität nicht mehr wegzudenken.»
