Die äusserst sympathische Gartenbeiz Zum Gaul ist die beste Adresse für vegane Burger, Fischchnusperli oder Kebabs. Dazu gibts handgeschnitzte Sweet-Potato-Fries, vegane Mayo oder pikante Mango-Sauce. In der Küche läuft Punk-Rock, im zugestickerten WC verträumter Indie-Sound. Achtung, nur Barzahlung!

Zwar längst kein Geheimtipp mehr, aber der Palestine Grill an der Piazza Cella macht nun mal die besten Falafel der Stadt. Den Sabich einfach ohne Ei und den Falafel oder die grandiosen Pommes nicht mit Joghurtsauce sondern mit reichlich (!) Tahini bestellen. Wer nett fragt, kann sich den Hummus auch ins selbst mitgebrachte Tupperware füllen lassen.

Die Vegelateria ist Teil des etwas sonderbaren veganen Bio-Restaurants The Sacred. Die überwältigende Auswahl an veganen Gelati kompensiert aber jegliche Sekten-Atmosphäre, welche die Flötenmusik und die Word-Art-Schriftzüge mit sich bringen. Die ausgefallenen Glacésorten wie Bittermandel, Spirulina oder Schwarze-Schokolade-Zitrone-Salz sind nicht nur ausgesprochen gut, sondern dank natürlichen Zutaten auch für healthy-eating-Chicks und Boys geeignet. Achtung, sonntags geschlossen!

Das Chimy's ist ein «all-you-can-eat»-Restaurant mit einem riesigen vegetarisch-veganen asiatischen Buffet. Eigentlich ohnehin schon günstig, kriegt man von der überaus herzlichen Bedienung nach jedem Besuch einen Rabatt-Gutschein fürs nächste Mal, sodass man immer wieder kommen will. Tipp 1: Sehr hungrig kommen, da man von allem probieren will! Tipp 2: Sich den überdimensionierten pinken Eistee mit Frangipaniblüten-Deko nicht entgehen lassen.

Das Avanti ist die wohl mit Abstand authentischste italienische Pizzeria der Stadt! Leicht asozial, leicht schmuddelig, mit Fernseher in der oberen linken Ecke, auf dem ununterbrochen italienische News laufen, mit wackeligen Stühlen, Birra Moretti und öligen Oliven oder eingelegtem Knoblauch zum selbständigen Garnieren der Pizza. Achja, und sehr knusprige vegane Pizza, die man sich auch nach Hause liefern lassen kann.

Das wohl wunderlichste Restaurant, wos je hets gits! Von aussen sieht das äthiopisch-eritreische Restaurant Filfl aus wie die gutbürgerlichste Schweizer Beiz, die man sich vorstellen kann. Auch das Interieur mag verwirren: Eckbänke, gusseiserne Hängelampen und die Kreidetafel, die grosse Cordons-Bleus mit Pommes anpreist, erweckt alles andere als den Eindruck, dass es hier auch eritreische Teigfladen mit Linsensaucen (und wahlweise Fleisch) gibt. Die gibt es aber – und sie schmecken ausgezeichnet! Wer Glück hat, kriegt vom Koch (und Mitbesitzer des Restaurants? So many questions...) nach dem Essen einen ultra-starken eritreischen Anisschnaps ausgegeben.

Das noch relativ neue, peruanische Restaurant Barranco am Bullingerplatz überrascht mit einem grossen und abwechslungsreichen Angebot an vegetarischen und veganen Gerichten. Neben Drinks, die Piña Coqueta, Doña Chicha und Sandilla Soda heissen, gibt es dort sogar Planted-Poulet-Fleischersatz! Definitiv eine gute Adresse für alle, die mal was anderes als immer nur Pizza oder Thai-Curry essen wollen.
